Global distribution: This species is distributed in the Indian Ocean (Illig 1906; W. M. Tattersall 1912; Colosi 1920; Pillai 1964, 1973), Atlantic Ocean (Hansen 1912), Philippines (W. M. Tattersall 1951), Korea (Jo et al. 1998; Lee et al. 2015), East China Sea (Xu & Shen 2007), South China Sea (Wang & Liu 1994; Liu & Wang 2000) and Australia (Lowry & Stoddart 2003).
