Distinguished by the ventral margin of epimeral plate that forms an acute angle with the body axis anteriorly on pleonite I, and a much shorter PVII than PVI. [Zeidler, 2003] P. gracilis is readily distinguished by the presence of numerous spines on the anterior margins of pereopods 5 to 7, by the distinctly shorter pereopod 7 compared to pereopod 6, and by the shape of the pleonites, particularly pleonite 1 the anterior margin. [Zeidler, 1992] <br /> of which forms an acute angle with the body axis<br /> (almost perpendicular in P. crassipes). According to<br /> Brusca (1981), the spination of pereopods 5 to 7 and<br /> the shape of pleonite 1 are particularly reliable<br /> characters.</td></tr></tbody></table>

It has also been recorded from the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. Distribution. Cosmopolitan in tropical and subtropical water, including the Mediterranean Sea (Vinogradov et al. 1996). In the eastern Pacific it ranges from the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula (north to 27 ° 38 ’ 14 ” N) to Michoacán, including the Gulf of California, Mexico, and off Panama and Ecuador (García Madrigal 2007, Guillén Pozo, 2007, Valencia et al. 2013).
