Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2. — General distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Philippines, Society Islands and Marquesas Islands, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Port Stephens (New South Wales), New Caledonia and Tonga. Found on mud bottoms, including estuaries, 1 – 122 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
