Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 5. — General distribution: East Africa, Comores and western Mascarenes east to Hawaiian Islands and Pitcairn Group, north to southern Japan, south to northwestern Australia, New Caledonia and Tonga. Found in lagoons, coral and rocky reefs, 1 – 122 m depth. Marine.
