Lygosoma quadrupes

Biology. Specimen MNHN 2002.0428 was actively crossing a forest track around 2000 hours under a strong rain shower in November. Out of Sumatra, a specimen was observed in a fallow piece of land in the zoological park of Jakarta (Java), and another one (MNHN 2002.0445), a large male (SVL 68 mm, TaL 38 mm) was collected in the suburbs of the city.

Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Sumatera Barat (first record in this work) and Sumatera Selatan (De Rooij, 1915). Previously the sole confirmed record from Sumatra was “ Rawas in Palembang ” (De Rooij, 1915: 384; as Lygosoma chalcides), now Muarabeliti Baru, Province of Sumatera Selatan. This first record from Sumatera Barat represents a range extension along the Barisan Range by about 470 straight line kilometres from the previous locality.
