Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2. — General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Line and Phoenix islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Usually in groups, in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, in New Ireland area seen on the outer slope of the barrier reef, 1 – 40 m depth. Marine.
