Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2. — General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Samoa and Tonga, north to Yaeyama and Ryukyu islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in silty or sandy areas of lagoons and bays, usually in pairs and lives in a burrow under rocks, 0 – 10 m depth. Marine.
