Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 4. — General distribution: Cocos-Keeling and Christmas islands (eastern Indian Ocean) east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoons, passes and slopes of seaward coral reefs, among branches of staghorn Acropora corals, 1 – 15 m depth. Marine.
