Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 3. — General distribution: Sri Lanka east to Tuamotu Archipelago, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in pairs, usually in coral-rich areas of coastal, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 1 – 15 m depth. Marine.
